what if i said dragon quest x had moon rabbits. and by moon rabbits i mean there’s a settlement on the moon populated by women in the casino bunnygirl outfit
this blew up so i’ll drop more info:
you get to the moon by being launched out the end of a giant french horn.
the moon bunnies have a queen called mistress moon (she wears a royal gown, not a bunny outfit).
there’s a recurring joke character/monster in dragon quest known as カンダタ (kandata) in japan after the criminal from The Spider’s Thread. in modern english localisations, he’s called Robbin’ ‘Ood and his dialogue is always written (and voiced where applicable) with a cockney accent. Robbin’ ‘Ood has henchmen monsters called Merry Men but, after them abandoning him in dq10, the player becomes an honorary merry man.
you travel to the moon with the intention of helping robbin’ ‘ood steal this “treasure of the moon” he’s heard about. but, it turns out, alien invaders from a distant star are trying to take the treasure of the moon from mistress moon by force. robbin’ ‘ood however, fits the description of their fated hero of prophecy, although, he wants nothing to do with this until mistress moon offers him the treasure of the moon as the prize for saving them.
this all leads to a climactic battle in the alien invaders’ ufo mothership before mistress moon reveals the treasure of the moon is actually the secret of immortality, a little metal tree of stars that allows the denizens of the moon the ability to live forever. mistress moon was actually offering her hand in marriage for robbin’ ‘ood to life forever as the king of the moon. he declines, saying there’s no fun in being a thief if there’s no risk involved but he’ll think about it when he’s ready to retire.
^all this happens in a series of 4 side quests. no, it has nothing to do with the main story. this moon, as a location in the game, is only here for this.
