morrowind's lack of markers, no fast-travel and general hostility has even the simplest of quests become far more memorable. i got a standard "clear a cave" mission from the fighters guild but hauling my arse across dangerous swamps, checking supplies and having a pretty serious stat-fight (where my build's pros/cons actually MATTERED) makes everything feel impactful. filtering the usual elder scrolls "learn by doing" system through this is downright magical.
there's some alienating moments though. i spent a good 20 minutes wandering around the wilderness to find ONE npc, standing in the middle of nowhere. "go north-west" only helps so much. im also off about the dice-roll hits, but in fairness thats only a major sticking point early on when stamina is low.
