it's an iffy topic to delve into but i swear, classic sonic's level design gets the weirdest takes. it's not that far removed from contemporary platforming design (go right, obstacle in way, jump on or over obstacle) but for some reason, people throw out all notions of what the genre entails and just ram into things repeatedly.
hell, sonic even allows further options with offensive movement in the form of rolling, letting you go through instead. you're virtually invincible so long as you're watching the screen.
but no. all the negative gameplay ive seen tapes over right on the D-pad and you consequently get posts like the infamous "red spring in marble zone".
yknow, the one you can avoid with the jump button.
you see really funny criticism like "that enemy was in the way and hit me" like, yes. yes that's what games are. sometimes there are things in games that you must deal with. have you tried the jump button?

i like that Rouge's theme from Sonic Battle was the only track to get digitized vocals. because it's Rouge. game's unplayable otherwise.
Battle's OST is a mixed bag. i like the tracks that veer away from that awful "cat being stepped on" guitar screech but they're the minority.
Rouge, Tails and Cream are my favourites. especially Cream's, i love that bait-and-switch from the solo opening into a very silly, clumsy lil tune that fits a kid in a fighting game.
