the TLOU PC port is definitely better than launch but i still have to A. rebuild shaders for 30 minutes after a driver update and B. reset the game afterwards because for some horrible reason, it runs my GPU into the ground as if the process never ended.

the more i toy with The Last Of Us, the more i wonder why it's a game in the first place, it doesn't seem particularly interested in being one. it's two hours in and ive not done more than walk in a straight line, crouch in a straight line, do exactly three stealth sections with no freedom at all and listen to dialogue. it's a graphical powerhouse sure and the writing's fine enough but it feels like a drag to actually play. i'd much rather watch this than interact with it.

im not one to dictate what games should be. if you want to emulate an oscar bait HBO show go nuts, but it's very telling that the actual TV show garnered broad acclaim well beyond the walls of a playstation exclusive. that's the medium TLOU so clearly wants to be, why are you here instead?

it's easy to throw all the recent PS exclusives under this bus but man, nothing else has felt this suffocating. i'd rather replay Horizon Zero Dawn any day of the week hell, even ND's own Uncharted kept me awake. TLOU meters out gameplay as if it's a privilege; set-dressing.
