4 hours, not 100% but close and about one of those hours was spent getting lost lmao.

new favourite platformer. absolute joy to wander around these beautiful retro environments and get invested in all sorts of mechanics. provides a decent challenge too if you're willing to sequence-break, though its hard not to given the buttery controls.

the combat's probably my only hangup. it's much more underbaked in comparison (three-hit combo, that's it) and enemies are sorta just, tossed into rooms rather than uniquely placed. there's a neat healing/damage idea but i ended up just ignoring all the fights.

there's also no map whatsoever. you're expected to memorize each room as you go, which for a metroidvania is an especially nasty test. thankfully, Pseudoregalia's short length and interconnected layout helps. i ended up enjoying the immersion quite a bit.

neat little story too. it hews close to many of my favourite games (which i wont name since it spoils Pseudoregalia rotten) but it's barely a factor during play. it's only the ending where it becomes evident what's happening and it's a fun reveal.

definitely barrelling through this for a timed run. its made for speedrunning
