How the fuck is YouTube even still functioning, like genuinely the YouTube algorithm is running almost every single thing.

Because they use algorithms to check for 18+ content, copyrighted content, and other stuff.

because YouTube has lasted so long as a company, unless they actively ruin their reputation by doing stuff that the entire website will disagree with (the logged out boredom scrollers, the grandma how to watchers, the naked yoga masturbators), the website won't collapse. it'll keep going no matter what

it's the too big to fail effect. once you get to a point of popularity that everyone relies on you, any minor and semi major problem you encounter is often entirely mitigated by the fact that no one has any other better option
