here’s an x-sums puzzle under the diagonal variant, aka the x variant, which means you could call this an x x-sums puzzle. if you also added just the x part of the xv variant, you could then call this an x x x-sums puzzle. i didn’t do that though. uh. anyway.

x x-sums ruleslabel each unnumbered cell with a number from 1 to n, where n is the side length of the grid, such that every number is present in each row, column, and diagonal. each number outside of the grid indicates the sum of the x nearest numbers along its line of sight into the grid, where x is the nearest number.

i need to rip the band-aid off and just start posting variant puzzles i have in the tank, which i’ve avoided up ’til now out of a tenuous principle to keep my output on here simple in ruleset (even if still high in difficulty). i’m already in a niche within a niche, and some of these puzzles will never see the light of day otherwise. anyway, here’s some x-sums puzzles i made a while back, under the zero variant.

zero x-sums ruleslabel each unnumbered cell with a number from 0 to n, where n is the side length of the grid minus one, such that every number is present in each row and column. each number outside of the grid indicates the sum of the x nearest numbers along its line of sight into the grid, where x is the nearest number.

one puzzle game i forgot to mention having played is stuffo the puzzle bot, which i regret neglecting because it’s actually one of my fav releases from last year. solid puzzles w/ a slick visual style and a banger soundtrack. no seriously check out the soundtrack it has the rare honor of being a puzzle game ost i still listen to, it’s so unique imo.
