In your post about fighting game mechanics, you mentioned not needing games to pander to you, but what would be the ultimate "this game panders to me specifically?" game for you be?

There is kinda a weird paradox to this. Because what I actually want is not a fighting game designed for me specifically, it's for the financial realities of fighting games to not require needing every human being alive to buy them in order to survive. I want weird shit for weirdos.

I want discomfort. I want systems in it that piss me off a little. I want things that are frustrating. I want systems where it's like... is this good?? Because a big part of it, for me, is either getting past these things or even learning to embrace them. An adventure or journey isn't all fun every step.

Like there is SO MUCH I don't like about +R an d Rev2. FRCs are so annoying, especially when trying to teach new players. YRCs are worse, in a completely different way. WTF is up with Danger Time like in general??? Fuck Zappa and his low profiling little shitty asshole, fuck... all of Leo, tech buttons in Rev2 is fucking stupid, I find SB and Blitz dumb in two very different ways despite filling the same mechanical holes, blahblahblah AND YET I LOVE THESE GAMES.. And I dont't love them DESPITE these things, but BECAUSE of this friction.

And maybe I'd like either of these games more if they got one more perfect patch and changed just a few of these things. Not every pain point is secretly a blessing. But at the same time... I wouldn't risk it either? Because who knows what else you might ruin in the process of trying to make something better?

There is something beautiful about old, "dead" games that aren't getting patches anymore. Climbing is a wonderful hobby. Gym climbing and outdoor climbing are both great ways to enjoy it, but there is something about outdoor climbing... be it a mountain, or a tree when you're a kid or whatever. You can't ask the mountain to change. If you want to climb the mountain, you have to change.

And so, a fighting game that's pandering to me is one that inspires me to want to change. Big cop out answer, but ya know, it's how it be sometimes. ๐Ÿ˜…
