i kept forgetting, during breakfast, if i'd taken my ADHD meds (and also being bad at refilling my weekly pill boxes sldfkjghfds) so i've been keeping 3 things by my bed every night:

-a Little Snack (crackers or snacky bars)
-vacuum-sealed bottle of nice cold water (cat-proof and won't be Gross in the morning)
-my meds

now i just take them before i ever get out of bed. i am not allowed to leave bed until i take them.* this also shortens my morning booting-up time and since i have slow-release vyvanse it also helps prevent them from keeping me awake way too late

Rod-Land (the Amiga version) was one of the first games i remember playing and i think it's pretty clear that it put my life In A Direction, aesthetically. nobody talks about it, it's p. much forgotten these days but it's a real cute arcade game that was recently re-released on the switch, along with its puzzle sequel, Soldam. i recommend emulating the arcade version though so you can jam infinite coins in there and just experience all the cute sprites. it's a good time. it's like bubble bobble with slightly more (cute) violence

this is not in any order and there are probably things i'm forgetting but i stream-of-consciousnessed games that i either go back to regularly or that had some kind of enormous permanent impact on me. mad that my choices for Rod-Land were either something with a weird logo on it or the awful american box art but too lazy to edit it lol. (no one else has been including the link to make one but i will)

Yoshitaka Tamaki, the illustrator, character designer & scenario writer whose work defined the look and tone of Shining & The Darkness, Shining Force, Landstalker, Alundra and many other games in extended Sonic! Software/Climax family, succumbed to lung cancer on July 13, aged 55; the news was announced today, after a private funeral service attended by close friends and family.

R.I.P.

rather than singling out select pieces, I'd urge you to check out @vgdensetsu's archives of Tamaki's illustrated worksโ€”in addition to all the big, globally-known hits, there's also a selection of art from his various Japan-only projects and more obscure works like magazine contributions and light novels:

Yoshitaka Tamaka, 1991~1997
Yoshitaka Tamaki, 1998~2007 & beyond
