thirding darktable
i also use davinci resolve, which can read most raw still formats do pretty much anything you can imagine with them, and then export them to png
ill have to give darktable another shot, it sounds like a lot of people like it!
davinci resolve for image editing is something i would never have thought to try but i can see how it would actually work really well
in the paid world: i have a capture one pro 18 perpetual license (for Sony) and it’s been the best RAW experience i’ve had for my sony cameras specifically. unfortunately they no longer offer versions that only support specific manufacturers bc otherwise it’s $300 (but at least it’s not a subscription)
capture one express is pretty nice but i think darktable is better in the free tier.
i just tried out capture one express and whoah it honestly is pretty much good enough for my casual use. it's definitely sold me on a perpetual pro license if i ever need the advanced features
yeah my friend got a free fujifilm license with his mirrorless before express existed and i was really impressed by it
i liked lightroom (at least classic), but it's also slow as hell on my computer :(
i tried capture one at the recommendation of a couple people and even the reduced feature count express version i think i like i lot better than lightroom. but im also not doing any professional level editing
