To be fair MAME is almost impossible to set up and get a good set on--I recently bought that Capcom Stadium bundle strictly because "You know what? Even if this is a slightly inferior experience, I can't be bothered to configure MAME/track down the exact right ROMs for my version/etc."
I don't think you have to be an apocalyptic Christian to use it, though it does feel apocalyptic to set up
