Chat apps period absolutely need to let you have multiple entirely distinct accounts per device, for free. Lots of people justโฆ โฆcan't safely keep everything on one account.

Having to pick a username that's completely unrelated to both my online and offline names is a better problem to have than "I can't talk to people without giving them one of the more dangerous numbers one could disclose to untrusted randos".
That's why I use the discord website even on mobile. The app doesn't have an account switcher.
