something else about being the only black folk in white spaces that i don't see get talked about often is even after making some absolutely lovely friends and fostering a community that's conscious about shit and willing to sit and listen and learn and grow is..... there's still a profound loneliness that never really goes away. that yearning to connect with my brothers and sisters and siblings of color, get to know someone who i don't need to break down any barriers with, they just get it. it's nobody's fault, but it's still rough
this post is ok to share btw, just bc i was asked i'll put that on record. in fact, i'd encourage it, and if you happen to be Black and reading this, i'd love a chance to reach out, maybe get to know each other more. i'd like that quite a lot, actually :)
