needle swinging back and forth like a pendulum between "does cohost as a platform fundamentally suck" and "do the People of cohost and the """culture""" that they have festered fundamentally suck"
i sort of offhandedly joked in the tags that its both but like. it really is literally both
cohost is a website built as the hobby horse of a couple friends that mashes together the worst mechanical aspects of tumblr and blogspot into a fine slurry that treats every post as an island and actively scoffs at the idea of giving you access to information as basic as "what is happening in your notes right now"
combine that with the heavily-conflict-avoidant-but-exceptionally-passive-aggressive userbase and what you get is a social media platform where talking about any pertinent real-world issue is an unspoken taboo, and anything that Does become a topic of debate is routed through the most asinine game of telephone you could ever imagine as every other user vagueposts their way into the conversation, resulting in an endless back-and-forth of "wow, get a load of This guy" until everyone either blocks each other or they get bored. but y'know it's better than twitter so i guess there's nothing to learn from this
lmaoo you're all good, i really like your insights and constrictive criticisms about cohost :3
