while I certainly understand the frustrations that many of the people who came back to cohost (like myself) or started on cohost after the tumblr shitshow, especially those regarding how much of the current format can feel isolating and make discovering new people more difficult than on other prominent social media sites, I do have faith in cohost and thoroughly enjoy it even in its current state. I recognize that both the site and the staff are still small, so change will likely be slow, but the independence and overall development philosophy gives me hope that it isn't gonna end up following enshitification, a culture of harassment, or a sudden shutdown that I've seen so many other platforms and online communities get mired in already over the relatively short life thus far of both myself and the internet. also, I just genuinely prefer the tumblr-esque format so much over the twitter-esque format of a lot of the newer social medias like bluesky that I'm definitely willing to give a lot more grace and patience through the growing pains of cohost. looking forward to developing a great community with y'all!
