Yes this is real!! its powered by the v86 project which is a super awesome x86 -> wasm virtualizer thing!
What the fuck
heavy metal scientist. sometimes literally. fountain pen enjoyer. queer and more than old enough to remember when you couldn't use the internet and your home phone at the same time

hahaha this is ridiculous, so seems like I should be able to ship docker containers as cohost posts eventually?
edit: think my favorite bit about this is that I'm not even on an x86 platform right now
Honestly yea you probably could do docker in a post. theres a v86 image for Arch but it looked hard to set up and i dont have the energy to do that rn
This is truly ridiculous, and not at all the sort of thing that should be on a social media site. I absolutely love it
need to access linux commands?
broke: use a vm
woke: cohost webdev crimes
i dont do programs but my partner does and he was fascinated by this and made me type things in to test it. and then i spent about 15 minutes telling him about css crimes on cohost and showing him some posts. all this to say i think by putting linux on cohost you convinced him to join the site
Im imagining an electron app in this thing would be funny. I might take a stab at that after my finals.
in theory you could get a whole graphical arch install running, I just didn't out in the effort to figure out how to build the disk for it to boot from and whatnot. The v86 demo page has an example tho :)
This is making me think of extremely cursed ideas, like "cobble this together to be able to run the x86 Flash plugin".
Honestly you could just use chiframes (what I used to make the embed) and Ruffle.rs to do it
