it seems like your trailer going viral is the way to sell games now. you have to promise something that fills an empty niche that people have been craving, and then produce a minimum viable asset flip to sell them
"the last of us as an mmo" or "pokemon with guns" you gotta stop falling for this shit people
"No but see, Beth, I need to give the 'AI' luminary copycats that just keep shitting out unfinished game after unfinished game money and attention! Broadcast them to the rest of the world!" — Way too many people, for some reason
They literally have an early access piece of shit called "AI impostor" where you're just generating "AI art" after "AI art", and their latest game is straight up "what if I asked an LLM to copy everything that's popular".
though i am not entirely convinced to the exact degree ai was involved in palworld's production, considering that they are willing to outright steal fan-created designs wholesale on top of the nearly identical inclusion of certain distinct official assets, i do not really feel like there is much room to give the dev team much benefit of the doubt
on twitter, it was discovered that this specific pal has stolen its entire design from a fan design of a theoretical mega delphox. the artist has since disappeared from the internet, but its design has been shared around for being generally super fucking cool??? which pocket lint or whoever decided to just completely replicate in a 3d model
the throughline is plagiarism, ai just happens to be really convenient for this
