spent a lot of time today reading and thinking about the indus valley civilization... i wish so much i could have seen it. if time travel ever became real I'd just wanna take a little look. they had so much shit figured out!! and what appeared to have been a very equal society, with a notable absence of figures of power or authority in writing and art, and that most houses were of similar size and everyone had fresh water and integrated sewer systems in the home. in 3300 BCE!
i get misty eyed thinking about just how long ago that was, how the things their hands shaped are still there even now. the bricks laid precisely in the Great Bath, sitting there under the same sun and stars now, the finger indents baked in of a person very much like you or me there through the ages. a tiny clay figurine of a chicken. a cartwheel. their everyday, still here, the breath still within the objects they held!
