Thinking about playing Tomb Raider 1 again as a primary reference for level design inspiration. Or at least watching some longplays while I do other things... Not because I have the same genre in mind exactly, but because that routing and progression through the puzzle boxes just feel so elegant and natural.
Even when I feel a little adrift as a player and slightly overwhelmed at not knowing exactly where to go next, I'm still being subtly led to the goal though its narrowing of options in a way that feels thematically cohesive with the level Lara is traversing through, finding the way forward into the deeper depths of the tombs.
