hi!! i' ve been working on an unnamed boids game since sometime earlier this month (and tweeting about it), and i wanted to publish this little devlog... i've redacted everything that could be considered a spoiler, so read with no fear! look mostly i wanted to show off this horribly compressed jpg and my beautifully fixed width text, the devlog itself is of basically no consequence unless you like reading about the headaches that one experiences in game development.

2024 - july 23 - happy monday! oh it's
3:13 AM actually, so it's sort of like
"july 22, but late" for me. 

i've long finished everything laid out
in "2.txt" and it's time for a huge --
or i'll say, ANOTHER huge -- refactor.

i've been running into a developmental
block more than once this weekend, and
maybe, pushing through it more than is
entirely advisable. anyway my wishlist
of things to organize or understand in
a better way follows:

1. COMBINE ██████████ AND ███████████.
there is absolutely no need for parent
and child, and it often confuses me to
look for code inside one, only to find
(for the hundredth time) that the code
i am looking for is in the other. RIP.
	* this was caused by an inheriting
	relationship added too soon. there
	was never any need for the parent-
	child separation here.

2. RECONFIGURE █████'S ███████████████
FUNCTION. there's stuff that surrounds
the functionality of ██████ within the
█████ that is confusing...

	2b. HANDLE SAVING BETTER. strongly
	related to the above issue, saving
	the game is messy a.f. // i've got
	to redevelop the data structure in
	order to support saving the ██████
	████████/s████ from the ground up.
	p.s. maybe always █████ the ██████
	at the last ███████ █████ when you
	load the game? (make it a option.)
	((for me, the developer.))

3. HANDLE PALETTES BETTER, ALSO COLOUR
LERPING ██████████████. allow for some
palette params to be static vs dynamic
so that when the ██████ █████, ██████n
██████████████████modes (eg "title" vs
"actually playing"), i can control the
various rates separately. we're pretty
close actually, no major problem here.

4. DYNAMICALLY ██████████████ AND ALSO
DEFINE ███████████████████ OUTSIDE THE
TREE IN MEMORY. at the moment, ██████y
██████████████████████████████ must be
loaded in memory at once. change this!
it's not going to be easy but it's got
to be done.
