Twofer: crane + Long Lines tower!
Took me a while, but I eventually figured out where you were standing when you shot this. I used to live a few blocks away when I was a student. The area has changed a lot; pretty sure this was a parking lot at the time.
oh dip!!! good spot on the Long Lines tower, there is (was?) an AT&T building downtown for a long time, but I didn't even register that it was in the shot 😱
It certainly keeps changing!! That was the parking spot for The Wreck and O'Malley's, but I have no idea what it's turning into now. The other side of the street still has The Shanty and the bookstore, but I think everything else is a cycle of shops that eventually fold and get replaced with more generic shops. 😔
