I played my first match of Yomi Hustle last night and had a pretty good time. It's essentially a fighting game where you and your opponent are both TASing eachother. Time only moves when you're both animation locked or stunlocked, and to prevent this from being a 20XX situation (where committing to an animation is always the wrong answer, in favor of waiting and reacting), doing nothing also has a small animation lock.
I figure this might be a very (very) confusing premise, so I went ahead and uploaded both my first match, and then a video of me watching a replay of that match and changing the outcome to find out if I had missed lethal at some point, so you can see what the actual process of playing looks like.
i was not understanding any yomi hustle replays ("it's just 30 seconds of inscrutable anime shit??") but her description of "you and your opponent are both TASing each other" is spot on ππ each player gets a 30 minute turn timer so it's actually much more manageable as you play it (altho their complaints about the UI are also spot on β ). you both create something very cool when it's all done. it's neat!!
also i was the cowboy that got shot at the end of the match video that it posted π’
