i made the mistake of waking up early enough to practice some Xrd and now i'm at work grumbling like "why am i here when i could be doing some REAL shit? (practicing combos in a 6 year old fighting game)"
anyways... this is peeling a bit of the Millia-Baiken MU ahead of Resshou eheheh BUT,
Some basic Millia stuff to explain here...1 Millia's disc corner pressure comes in two flavors: "meaty" or "late" disc, depending on when the disc is hitting. Meaty disc is great for reversal DP safety (e.g. vs Sol), but Baiken thrives against meaty disc because wakeup Azami is really fucking busted vs a meaty mid attack. So, the general Millia wisdom is to drop a late disc, and get your meaty on the opponent by doing a high/low instead (which can still get parried if they guess right, but also opens up into counter-hit damage if they guess wrong).
Millia sets up meaty disc by finishing an air combo with 214S (no-jump hairpin), but she can also hit the falling body with a 214P haircar ender to readjust the knockdown timing and get a late disc in the corner. Late disc gives two mixups: one from your high/low meaty, and then a second mixup that you can apply once the opponent is stuck blocking your active disc. This morning I tried to work on more of that double-mixup pressure; "Block after First Hit" and "Switch Block on 2nd hit" helped here, giving me the Bad Moon -> 6K fuzzy guard crush timing practice I wanted. it's fun! it's fucked up! i feel like i still have a bunch of avenues to practice, too - what about haircar meaty? what about a haircar that's blocked? blah blah
anyways Resshoumania is this weekend that's FUCKED up. i'm anxious i'm excited i don't really know where the month went but I have a 13-hr road trip to look forward to this week so i guess i can pretend to pay attention to other stuff until then

if I talked about wanting to do a video guide before - it's on disc stuff
I remember reading LordKnight's Millia doc back when I started (and again recently) and I think it took me a long time to really understand the ideas explained within. But maybe some of that was also not really watching enough replays of other Millias, or watching the wrong players, or watching too high-level play. . . . IDK! but I'd wanna make sure I really understand shit before I commit to jabbering about it, which is another reason why it's felt good to practice more of this stuff
