6-3 (tied for 10th place) at rev2sday last night; losses to Zwei, Miku (Faust), and Jigz. I played OnlyMids at Erin's so this was the first rev2sday on my setup since before Resshoumania. turns out, when you grind for a month, you get results! i previously posted about how Millia's mixup -> 6H(1) confirm flattens all of the cast into one of two routes for garden setups, so last night was the night to bring it out after a month of only trying to hit @chastity with it (hi chastity π)
and hey, holy shit Secret Garden holy FUCK
I really like this clip because of the tiny backstep-crouch-6K to get pin into overhead that STILL connects reasonably on time. TBH, the disc and 6K were both late and probably the situation was escapable by jumping, and I think a player more experienced with the Millia MU may have gone for the exit. But sometimes playing in tournament is about knowing what you can get away with! Also shoutouts to the habitual full-charge blitz vs stun when there was a) no shot of burst and b) no followup round if I killed. i am very good at game awareness.
more stray thoughts before i get lunch:
-
Leo should be a victim for really easy Garden combos by doing air combo -> S hairpin -> 6H(2) -> SG inputs but Gauge was running out of the corner by doing a reversal crossup dash, which is probably my own fault for not stuffing the ground with a 2K. but wow that was a cool trick! he escaped with that the first time and then I was like "wow that's cool, there's no way he'll do that again" and then he did and it still worked because nothing about the situation changed. meaty 2K would also evade a wakeup flash kick, so that's probably my button to press after the orb is set. gotta test it tho

hey!! i played @SaberaMesia from cohost!!1 I accidentally didn't say anything during bracket because of the ladder grind but I am really happy to see more cohost faces entering r2d and playing Xrd; ggs!

Jigz did like way less flash kicks than I expected him to. He didn't do round start jump back airdash j.K as much. i think i was not able to rely on a lot of the "this is what Jigz does" player-specific reads as much anymore. it's kinda weird to feel players evolve as you face them over time, but it's really cool, too. those can't be the only reasons I lost though; definitely got jigz dimension'd at least once, but I think I'll have to watch that set and see what I'm missing

i think Millia is a favored matchup vs Faust but i have an unfavorable matchup vs Faust's divekick, which Miku capitalized on pretty well. I remember Paul Rudd's2 Faust also giving me a lot of trouble with that move... I think I gotta be more responsible around it, it's a pretty big hitbox and it's big money on counterhit. more to study
i'm done thinking. time for food

I think the "from COHOST?!" feeling when I see a name I recognize is always satisfying

not the actor; there's a player named Paul Rudd. he's from AZ!
