This one had been on my list for a while so I decided to watch it. Much less action than I expected, but all of the action setpieces were fucking incredible. Lemme tell ya, folks: Practical. Effects. We used to go to the movies to watch a bunch of cars get Actually Fucking Trashed. We paid for tickets to watch countless goons get thrown through physical tables. They show the climactic stunt from three angles, just doing the shot over and over, and they were right to do that it is a cool fucking stunt.

A lot of good comedy gags as well. Some of the bits are a little dated but it's a fun movie on the whole. Easy to see how Jackie Chan would catapult off of this, and definitely makes me wanna check more of his films out.

Practical effects and real stunts are cool but they also did verry much almost kill Jackie chan making this movie and he ended up with second degree burns all over his hands from holding onto a burning pole cause if he didn't he would die.

Like I get the appeal of doing practical effects Esspecially watching these old Hong Kong stunt films, but also man Hong Kong action movie practical effects were so fucking sketchy and dangerous and it's probbably a good thing that style of film making doesn't exist anymore.

holy shit that's wild i had no idea about that!!! yeah obviously like, no film is worth more than a human life or a lifetime of wellbeing, but dang is it cool to watch at least. but dang

Yeah it's absolutely awesome to watch but man I watch a bunch of like interviews and shit with people that worked on those movies and everyone always has a story of 'yeah I almost died three times making this movie' or 'yeah a stuffed up a stunt and broke my leg in three places and had to keep filming the next day' like shit was absolutely fucking insane.

If you're interested it's specifically the stunt where he slides down the pole with all the lights on. Something fucked up and the pole was super hot but also there was no safety wires so if he let go when he grabbed it he would have just fallen three stories.

Oh my GOD I love this movie, it’s absolutely my favorite Jackie Chan and one of my favorite Hong Kong movies in general. Just the entire opening set piece, the slapstick comedy…I love it so much.

The second and third movies are flawed but can also be a lot of fun (3 especially bc of Michelle Yeoh…Queen)
