went 3-1 in the final rev2sday before rollback hits on Friday. not too bad considering i played the first ~2 games trying to do +R air combos before I remembered what game I was playing
i'm probably going to add to this, there are a couple of interactions that i was yelling at and i want to go back and note them. mostly though I'm just excited for the end of delay-based netcode. any time there was a hiccup i just thought about the eventual runbacks that i'll bring to some folks... some of it is just that I need to study Leo more though, oops

Slayer
the Sin player below switched to Slayer for their second match; big thing I remember is getting an IB of Under Pressure (the Dandy Step mixup button) and then getting a counter hit 5K against the It's Late followup. that's pretty big, because UP -> IL is a 3f frametrap, so getting the IB on first hit would probably always beat It's Late? that forces the Slayer to pick other options (they should be anyway) and i'm not thinking that far right now
apparently It's Late is +3 on block; i won the match off of an IB'd IL, when they traded with my 5K afterwards. that interaction makes sense now, but IMO it also demonstrates that IBing the first hit is way more important to widen that gap, instead of just returning to neutral.
while I'm looking up frame data notes, apparently Mappa Hunch is either -1 or -2 on block depending on button used. given the extra movement with Mappa K i don't think i could trust that -2, if they space it correctly it would be fairly safe. i told myself i'd check on that and i did, so

I dodged a DP in here with a 6K what the fuck?? was that just spacing??? this shit is cracked, I need to find the damn hitbox overlay viewer for Xrd.

Looking at it again, yeah it does seem like I stepped back enough to hit - Sin's DP is much more vertical and narrow compared to a normal invuln, so wow that's great to know. Not certain if Millia's lower invuln on 6K also played a part in dodging the base of the attack. funny interaction tho

Back to back Chipps in loser's bracket, was very charmed by the adaptations one did when they realized I was blocking constantly and won game 2 off of me with like 10 leaf grabs. both players were around my skill level which made these really fun matches. i don't really have specific interaction notes but they were both very heavy on the hit-and-run avoidance type beat, which makes me wish I was better at boxing them in. some of that would have to mean getting better about catching the teleports and i don't know if i just want to grind out airthrows and other options right now. i might re-watch these tapes for habits/patterns but given Chipp's deep toolkit, i suspect that it'll end up being a per-player preference, and even then ... anyway, tapes sometime.
Fuckin' Leo
there are now at least two capable Leos in the rev2sday bracket which means i really need to figure this shit out. backturn is annoying, counter is annoying, buttons are annoying, health is annoying, etc. saying "i'm pretty sure this matchup favors Leo" as an escape hatch and going to bed. truly it seems like the win with backturn is "don't allow backturn" but also i should probably figure out the frame data for BT moves, because it's a situation that will come up and FDing gets costly.
