In "news that is huge to me personally," Dais Records has announced a third pressing of 2015's "Remain" by Bay Area dream pop/darkwave band Them Are Us Too. TAUT's debut album was masterful but the band's future was tragically cut short when guitarist Cash Askew was killed in the 2016 Ghost Ship warehouse fire in Oakland. I learned about "Remain" in the wake of that news and found Cash's death -- the death of a talented, young trans woman -- horribly upsetting in ways I didn't totally understand yet.

Anyway, the album is beautiful, and it's no exaggeration to say that it shaped my future. The surviving band member, Kennedy Ashlyn, has continued on her own as SRSQ ("seer-skew") and I had the honor of seeing her when she did a show in town a few years back. I already have "Remain" on CD, and I don't currently own a record player, but I think I'm still going to pick up one of these for my shelf.

Check out what arrived today :host-love: While I was taking pictures, I ended up talking with one of my roommates about the album. He mentioned that he also had a collection of vinyls with no way to play them, so now I'm thinking I may look for some equipment sooner rather than later. My heart is racing from obtaining this.

Thank you for sharing this Kiwi, I had never heard of this album before but now I'm a couple tracks in and am obsessed 💜 This draws so much from artists, eras and music scenes that I love very much and I'm glad to have found it through your post.

I can also say from experience that music like this sounds incredible on a record player, with speakers turned up to fill a room and absolutely surround you

Lilaaahhh :host-aww::host-aww: I'm so glad!! I'm not too deep on the genre but this album is truly one of my favorites, this makes me so happy to hear 🥰 I own a SRSQ LP that I got to play in a friend's apartment while staying over, and yesssssss it was so incredible to hear. I want that feeling again!! :yeah:

(this is also reminding me to listen to more of your Bowie posts - I loved watching the SNL performances :host-love:)

Oooh well if you want recommendations of some older stuff in this vein sometime let me know! I definitely know a few with similar vibes (which, based on their bandcamp profile I think they're very explicitly drawing from)
