the driving is fun and all but i think the game's too far in the realm of "simulation" for me to spend a lot of time with it. the career mode doesn't seem to be much of anything besides time attacks or races in specific, assigned cars, which isn't much of a "career" to build so much as a story you're fed to justify getting behind the wheel of an old BMW and into progressively newer BMWs or whatever.
anytime i'm in one of these BMWs, i think about the first vehicle I purchased in Gran Turismo 3: a Chrysler PT Cruiser, which I entered into every race possible and upgraded into a stupid racehorse over time. i don't really know of any games that let you do something on that level anymore, I guess because "upgrades" are sort of removed as a car system (for the better). but then from what i recall of forza 7, it just becomes "you must Build a Collection" and you end up with a ton of car-gated races and the stupid story-type beat that Assetto is doing. so, bummer! I guess maybe it's a hard balance to strike. at least the driving's always fun
