Saw Dead Reckoning last night: what a good time at the cinema! So Mission Impossible is just Uncharted now...with more than a healthy dose of MGS in there as well. Is that not all you could want in a summer blockbuster?
I say that because not only are the set pieces ripped straight out of Uncharted, but there is a lotta stuff about how AI and our digital reality can be weaponized by state intelligence actors to alter/control material reality. That's just everyday life now, but it was also a lot of what Kojima was scratching at in 2001 that made itself manifest over the last 8 years or so.
Good movie, go see it. And as always, Kojima is tha god.
