My partner and I went to the museum after hours and wouldn’t you know it, they were playing Oldboy in a little connected cinema. It’s a 20th anniversary NEON rerelease currently circulating in theaters.

The movie holds up — violent without much focus on action spectacle, instead spending its runtime inflicting maximum psychic damage on the protag in order to remind us what it is to be human. It’s a classic for a reason, and I should really get around to seeing more Park Chan-wook films.

Me too and I’d like to see some of that director’s other work, outside of Stoker which I saw in theaters and kinda hated lol. Decision to Leave got some good buzz last year though and I want to catch it.
