Just sharing this little feature on the upcoming wave of indie immersive sims. It talks about how the revival of retro FPS games naturally led to more ambitious projects, echoing the trajectory of 90s FPS evolution. This whole scene is one of the brightest spots in gaming at the moment and I am personally salivating to play them all.

There's an extra special shoutout at the end to the severely overlooked Ctrl Alt Ego, a game that came out of nowhere in full 1.0 release last year. Its deceptively simple hook reveals itself to be one of the more complex and joyous first person games you could ever hope to play.

Somebody stole my personal tag, only trier a little bit of Ctrl alt Ego and iy didn't jell with me I think mostly from control wise but it seemed really intresting so I willr eturn and for sure its far too overlooked. Dev even seemed to do a decent bit of post launch side content for the game too even after 1.0 and already having a pretty meaty game!

Some say I'm the quietest neatest lad of all. I do recommend you give Ctrl Alt Ego another shot. It looks and feels a bit basic at the start but I promise it gets exceptionally good if you stick with it. I'm looking forward to another playthrough soon, the lighting has been completely reworked to look gloomier and less flat among other changes I'm sure. This is probably a game that could benefit from a "relaunch" of sorts.
