This game runs like zombie burger on my PC (sloppy wet garbagemeat). Might be time to put it aside and come back to it at a later date.

In lieu of my cozycore fully automated luxury gay station wagon simulator, I plan to tackle one or two bucket list games that I mentally catalogue as being in the same ballpark: cozy, exploration/discovery focused, minimal combat.

Those are, Outer Wilds and Subnautica. These games have been on my backburner for years, and I'm particularly excited to play through Subnautica. I have actually played tiny bits of each but it's time to sit down and truly experience them.

I thought the other dtoid Dungus maybe was full of shit but Outer Wilds was really amazing. Never jellef with Subnatica but never gave it much of a chance. Maybe with VR down the line good VR mods to fix its pretty bad barebonee VR mode now.

Also if you like Outer Wilds check put th3 standout indie game of 2023 Void stranger and Tunic is pretty cool.

Yeah I was talking with a buddy about Subnautica and he was telling me it’s one of those games you’ll wish you could play again for the first time. He said the same about Outer Wilds. That’s when it clicked for me, I’m missing out on a real experience with both of these.

I don’t think I can put up with Tunic’s soulslike ambitions but Void Stranger has been on my radar since it came out. I would love to play that on switch, especially if it were to come out on a cartridge.

I hated the combat of Tunic so I just made myself invincible in the options and ignored combat. Much better game and still plenty to do that is not combat. Good example of why every game does not need combat in it.

None of the Void Stranger devs games have ever come to consoles so I say your out of luck with that sadly.

I am fundamentally against this idea of “just turn god mode on, yay accessibility!” No you designed a fucked up game that doesn’t know what it wants to be, I’m not putting up with that by toggling a mode that turns the gameplay off. It’s boring! Sorry but as cool as Tunic is outside of combat, my interest wanes in the moment to moment gameplay. Impossible for me to appreciate the subtext when the text is utterly banal.

The thing is Tunic doesn't have a lot of combat and feels like it was just plopped in randomly. Its a smaller part of the game that felt like it was added later for a game where you still do a lot of puzzles and wandering exploring around primarly.

Still plenty of games to play if you want to try something else though.
