So most folks in dev know how powerful spreadsheets can be for all sorts of design elements. Sometimes you can even prototype whole sections of a game in one. But did you know you can also use them to draw and plan out maps?

Being able to draw rooms with a set amount of screen lengths can be done in just about any image editing software, but I've found there is a handful of specific reasons that pushes me to doing it in a Google spreadsheet instead. I often find it quicker and easier to edit. But the real benefit is the cells! You can put all sorts of notes and notation in a cell. It's very helpful when designing on my break at work since I can just load one up on my phone.

Now the picture attached is a rough draft. I'm not using the data here to actually import it into the game. That would be wild and probably a fun way to do usermade content.

So how do you folks use spreadsheets in interesting and unexpected ways?
