So I had a little look at the store page of Neon Echo, not my jam just because I am not a huge rogue lite 2D game fan but it did look pretty and fun for fans of those games. I saw the game had very postive steam user reviews but recently it changed to overwhelmingly negative. I was confused why. What happened is the publishers fired every single person making this game after a month or two in early access because they didn't feel the game had enough eyes on it or was making enough money so the game is most likely fully dead and will never be updated again according to people.

I am honestly baffled by the whole thing, aren't publishers just for advertising and some bit if money to cover your living wages while you work on the game? Really sad either way for the team they did look like they made a pretty fun game with a good amount of care and this is the thanks/care they get. Just shows some publishers are still not to be trusted with indie games.

I hope the best for the team and that they get to make a new game in the future or continue this game and get a more reasonable publisher to work with next time.Makes me glad that the likes of NewBlood and Devolver Digital seem to treat the games they publish very well.

Oh I see the developer and publisher are the same on steam so they directly ran the team that made the game I guess? I can't imagine this team was needing a big budget and they were doing next to no advertsining for the game so honestly baffling to close and lay off the team to what say a few thousand euro and then be with no new game on the market until you get another team in the future to make a new game. Doesn't even make sense from a money/greed point of view really
