Working with BIG PIXELS can cause a lot of strange issues. In the gif above, originally when shooting up right or down left, the trail effect and bullet would be misaligned. But ONLY for those two directions. Seems like it has something to do with the way GMS2 draws sprites vs draw_line. (I did a lot of investigation and it wasn't caused by the usual suspects.) I fixed this by adding an offset to the trail code that just shifts it when firing in those directions.

The effect looks pretty good! The bullet is only a single pixel and having a little bit of a trail afterwards gives the shoots a lot of body and shape. Like the almost look like the taper off despite everything being a single pixel.

Why not also mess with the color a bit?
