This is apparently the 7th HG they released. It was a very quick build. There's very little articulation and a ton of places to paint/panel line. The only one I did was the little guy in the cockpit, which you can see the best in picture 3. I will be going over it later with some panel line markers. But dang, it looks like they expect you to do the treads! that'll be such a pain.
Guntank doesn't get the love it deserves. They're very few other Guntank styled things and I think they're all pre-0079 UC era stuff and I think they only make gunpla of the weird silver one from Origin. Wish they had gunpla of the two from MS Igloo. Those things rule.
So I got all those pour type gundam markers and I was like "what the heck am I going to do with all of these?" so I decide to paint my HG Guntank with them! I know folks generally say not to paint models this way as it creates uneven coats (as you can see with the yellow panels in the first image), but it's what I GOT. It's been a lot of fun. I even picked up some gentle painters tape and a set of exacto knives.
Everything is painted with metallic colors for the most part. Even the red, but you can't really tell from the pictures. Those sections are slightly sparkly in person. I didn't paint the yellow parts because I do not have a metallic yellow other than a gold/mustard color that I don't think would look right. I'm still debating what to do with the wheels and treads.
I still have the arms to go, but I'm planning on doing something fun with them.
This is ALMOST complete. I still need to do the arm barrels and part of the elbow for each arms, but the backpack is pretty much done. I think I'll just panel line the treads and wheels. The plan is to add some weathering, like mud and soot so I haven't really painted the bottom at all.
Yes, this isn't anime accurate or accurate to any sort of official art. I just wanted to have fun and try painting models out. It's a very soothing experience. I really like how the silver/blue/white on the upper arms looks.
