I shot some macro photos of ice along a stream last winter using my cross polarized flash setup to get these shots. The colors are the result of birefringence of the ice crystals.
Hoping for a cooler winter this year. The past couple have been very mild and I miss taking photos of ice crystals and frozen waterfalls.
oh, those look incredible! it must have taken you a lot of time and effort to get those angles just right.
"birefringence" is a nice word, isn't it? i first heard about it last week when taking polarised photos of meteorites. i might upload them sometime.
