i like the idea of a setting where you can look at, for example, a snake anthro, and think "oh they eat people, that's their whole thing". and of course, the snake is a good and normal person and respected. they're domesticated. but everyone Knows what they really want deep down.
I figure it would also be kind of rude to acknowledge it directly.
"So, uh, good lunch?"
"Oh, yes, stopped by a quiet place on 4th and Stevens. Yours?"
"Yeah, can't go wrong with a PBJ, myself. 4th and Stevens... the little bookstore?"
"Mm-hm. Oh, and I picked up a new fantasy novel since I was there anyway; looks promising. They always stock good stuff."
"That so? I don't think I've actually been in there... I'll have to swing by sometime."
"I'll probably head back for lunch again in... oh, next Friday? You could tag along. Always nice to have a friend, and I prefer meals to be a two-person affair, anyway."
"Afraid I'll have to decline, sorry. I get the feeling it would play havoc with my schedule."
"It does tend to do that, I'll admit. Another time, perhaps. Well, see you later!"
