To see "I Saw the TV Glow" run through the usual "ENDING EXPLAINED?!? HOPEFUL OR A DOWNER?" sieve of content farms really boils my blood, America has succeeded in distilling all art into a mush of consumable slop. It's not like I'm saying anything new or anything, I just hope Jane Schoenbrun can feel proud of what they've released.

I totally get that, it is very dour. Personally that feeling of bleakness is almost cathartic in a way, I've definitely had some days in my late twenties that I felt like the ending to the movie. Don't know if I could do another watch-through anytime soon though 😅
yeah I feel I need to go back at some point but I haven't even processed the first viewing yet. we need to sort through our headspace's media issues...anyway.
