#all my made-up mech pilots

(h/t: @Making-up-Mech-Pilots / @Scampir)

#Denis Urban, fictional sports pundit

youtube just threw this performance from episode 8 at me: https://youtu.be/WdXd6xznH1o

(does that embed on chost? guess we'll find out, idk how the internet works)

and, like, it's weird to be saying this about an animation, especially a sequence that has some amazingly well-observed animation in it, but the stillness is so important here. There's no over-expressed eyes-widening surprise from the audience, the only hint of movement is that in the previous song you saw the two figures on the left looking more down at their phones and now their heads are up.

all the other shots of the crowd are basically still as well

and that's what these gigs are like. people don't move a lot (this sucks, by the way, if you've ever been like the two girls at the front god bless you) at these tiny under-attended shows by beginner bands. It's so hard when you're up on stage to feel like anyone at all out there is into it, and if you care about people responding to your music (which, power to you if you can do it out of your own love, that's probably healthier >.>'') you have to get so good at looking for the faintest possible hints

(to say nothing of fighting off the brain goblins telling you even those hints are just people being nice)

We don't get typhoons where I live but it does rain a lot and the number of gigs I've played where all our friends just flaked because of the weather and we played in a cold dark cave to eight damp people who were there to see someone else is just... this show Gets It so hard, and it hurts TT_TT
