Idk man. It’s not that I “hate AI Art”. AI art is pretty cool. It’s that I’m really skeptical of “creative innovation” as branding for proprietary software owned by tech guys who care even less about ethics than they do about art. It’s not that I think it will “replace artists”. I think stealing and remixing art is fine! But I’m pretty wary of the significant overlap with deepfake and surveillance technology and the proximity to NFTs! Like, I don’t hate recorded music. Recorded music is amazing. But I absolutely mourn the widespread, vibrant, local, communal music we might still have if the music industry hadn’t by and large taken its place or packaged it up for sale, from race records up through streaming. Records didn’t do that. But people getting rich selling them sure did!
