I’ve been playing fallen london a fair amount this year and kind of justifying it to myself as game design research but man. As truly fascinating as this game is mechanically and as much as I’m theoretically down for this sort of tightly packed narrative minutia and off-the wall worldbuilding. I sure do find a lot of this setting pretty totally tiresome and politically incoherent. Would love to see what the modern failbetter team does with a new setting less tied up in decades worth of baggage one day
