this felt like watching someone diligently use the starting weapon for the entire runtime of an RPG and never upgrade except the starting weapon was a strict adherence to dialogue shot/reverse shot

i have zero clue about whether that was good or not but it sure was a film and that’s a movie

there was one part with a 4 over 3 polyrhythm in the score and that was cool

idk some great performances and i liked some of the Fun direction choices but there was just soooo much shot/reverse shot of not-especially-audible dialogue and an impossibly stop-and-start plot that it was hard to feel really anything beyond The Big Sequence.

Barbie Review

unironically one of the most consistently funny comedies of the past several years, and i was a little worried after the "beach off" trailer repetition bit. mostly deft enough to take an intelligent viewer's oncoming jab and still judo throw them onto the audience mat. not quite Lego Movie type masterpiece beat but this movie is just a joy. i loved hari nef so much
