doing the required r&d to make the lego ideas jazz quartet release look 90% as good as the original model instead of 60% (aside from the piano player update which is very good)
I is the original Ideas submission but the neck joint is offset . so one side looks wack (seen on the very bottom right) but the other side, the display side, looks great
R is the official lego release which is not as good although i do appreciate the side tooth pieces for his ears to cover the grey 1x2 with ball joint. but i dont appreciate them enough to keep, i think
for reference, the second pic are the other heads in the set, note that none of them have the same side-tooth-ear thing (the drummer, 3rd in that pic, has the technique but it's for his beard). the bassist (1st) has no covering on that grey 1x2
the main reason i'm redesigning this is while the new face shaping is decent, i don't like the new hair, i think the old short curlies texture w/ the studs on top is really great so that's why A-F (which are the ones i've cooked up) all have that same style
