My hobbies are all excuses to collect pretty colors. I enjoy knitting, sewing, running, trombone-ing, gardening, & sci-fi short stories. Coding when necessitated and occasionally for fun. Microbiology for fun & (non-)profit.

I wanted to try out xylitol gum and Pur gum had a variety packs available, so I bought them from Amazon since I can't find anything locally.

Overall: I hate the blister packs. No real way to get gum out without touching it or shooting the chiclet across the room. Very unsanitary. (There are other packaging types available for some flavors, though.) In general it feels overpriced, since at least 2 units of gum are needed (except the XXL variety).

I love the cool mint and cinnamon would buy them again. I'd buy chocolate mint and pomegranate mint and the fruit XXL flavors with a decent sale. I wish the bubblegum lasted longer as I like its more complex flavor. Wintergreen is not something I'll buy again.

Thoughts on each kind under the cut. "Long enough"= the 20 minutes I need to chew for after meals for my stomach to be happy.

In no particular order:

Peppermint: strong peppermint flavor. Rounds out after a sharp start. Lasts long enough.

Pomegranate mint: bad in a good way. Fruit flavor gone by 2 minutes, mint by 15.

Cool mint: Tastes pretty close to the Orbit Wintermint flavor from the 2000s, before reformulation. Very good. Flavor dies down after like a minute but enough of the mint remains.

Chocolate mint: artificial chocolate flavor, like those hard candy mints. Chocolate fades by 5 minutes or so but the peppermint stays for a long time.

Orange XXL: nice cool orange flavor, but short-lived.

Banana XXL: nice fake banana flavor, but short-lived.

Strawberry XXL: not great fake strawberry flavor. Also short-lived. Definitely better chewed with either of the other XXL fruit flavors than alone.

Wintergreen: Strong peppery mint, bit sweeter than peppermint. Reminds me of artificial "mint" flavors/scents (suspect a lot of methyl salicylate is used to punch up peppermint scents). Lasts a long time- the heat more than the mint. Not really that good, but very strong.

Bubble gum: bubble gum. A little more fruity than usual. Initially interesting flavor lasts about a minute and then fades to a completely unsurprising light generic sweet flavor. Any real flavor is gone by 5 minutes.

Spearmint: strong mint flavor without reminding me of fake mint scents. Has a little bit of sweetness. Fades after a few minutes to a reasonable level of mint that lasts long enough. Some bitter notes after the sweetness fades.

Cinnamon: sweet cinnamon flavor with a mild heat and some subtle cooling layered in. Most of it fades by 5 minutes but just enough remains for a 20m session.
