Wanted a quick project to use up some fabric and try out a neckline, so I grabbed the remainder of my burgundy ITY to make a t-shirt with.
All went well, very quick sewing, and then I turned it inside out to do the side seams.
One of the sleeves is on inside out. That won't do. I began to unpick it.
It was about 1/3rd of the way through unpicking the triple straight stitch I'd been using for construction (it's the only stretch stich my sewing machine does that this fabric likes), done in thread that's the same color as the fabric, where I realized this may not be a wearable toile after all.
I discovered a hole where I cut the fabric instead of thread. I decided I could probably fix it all right with some fusible, so I worked a little longer until my RSI acted up. I discovered a second hole, again my mistake. I stopped seam ripping.
I decided to pin it up and try it on anyway to see if I got the neckline right. It is not all that flattering on me.
I am setting this aside for a few days to see if I want to keep it. But I think it will not be finished:
I got the shirt I wanted out of this fabric and the rest of the yardage has been taking up space, this isn't a color I'm super excited about, the neckline isn't a good one for me, and it's literally paining me to fix it, keeping me from other projects I'm more excited about.
I had a lot of fun with it up until I saw the sleeve on inside out, at least!
