Just because something contains an aromatic ring doesn't meam you can easily turn it into something else at home. (Apparently people are under the impression that it's the shikimic acid, the starting substrate that shouldn't even be left at the end of synthesis, that's active, or that they can pull off complex organic chemistry by making tea.)
