My hobbies are all excuses to collect pretty colors. I enjoy knitting, sewing, running, trombone-ing, gardening, & sci-fi short stories. Coding when necessitated and occasionally for fun. Microbiology for fun & (non-)profit.
Terrible software zoom but my Pixel did ok in the low light, I think.
If you leave it zoomed out, this is a picture of a northern mockingbird looking majestic as it takes off from a juniper tree. If you zoom in, you get to see all kinds of fun chromatic aberration! I didn't think I'd captured anything this morning while out setting up a mosquito trap, so seeing that I got the bird in flight is pretty cool. Max zoom on a Pixel 7 is better than what I had 10 years ago but it's definitely not a real zoom lens.
This bird was LOUD, too. Like, I knew mockingbirds were loud, but having one sing a few meters away really sends home the strength of that voice.
