Apple really should have to write those APIs that allow any rendering engine to power PWAs. In a way opening up to third party app stores makes PWAs a little less important since they're no longer the only way to release native-ish apps outside of the app store, but it's still an unfair playing field.

im just hearing abt this now, and this article takes apple's press release at face value and didn't speculate on what the "real" reason apple wanted to do this. but im guessing everyone was clowning on apple for this obvious attempt to quash any alternative to using their app store? or do ppl think it was about something else or just incompetence?
