The galling thing is that like... it's such a small amount of VO with such a well-understood scope. The cost of recording it with a real actor would have been a rounding error. This absolute loser is jerking off in public about saving his employer a little bit of money by making the product worse and entering into a shitty moral compromise that leads to things being worse for everybody, and he's basically bragging about it. What a fucking toad, honestly.

I actually asked about this on the forum when the dev diary revealing this was posted; never got a reply, but did get a flock of people rushing to down-vote asking where the training data was coming from.

Paradox, even if they've been having a rough time recently, absolutely has the cash and resources to get actual voice actors in to do this.
